Weekly Sessions & Social Events
We gather twice a week at our City campus to play our expansive library of games. Favourites include Monikers, The Mind, Blood on the Clocktower, Root, Wingspan, Skull and Coup. Plenty of people come down after class just to hang out. If you're after social events at RMIT that don't need a ticket or a plan, this is the low-effort option: same rooms, same times, every week. Becoming a regular is the best way to make friends here, but you're welcome to drop in whenever you like.

Join the RBGA Discord
The RBGA Discord is where RMIT's board game club is most active. We share event updates, photos, and have general chat about all things tabletop. It's the best way to connect with the community and stay in the loop on upcoming events and game nights.

Before Your First Session
Can I come alone?
Yes, almost everyone does the first time. Most of the people at the table came alone too, and they remember what that felt like. Sit down and someone will deal you in.
Do I need to know the rules?
No. Most of us had barely played anything beyond Monopoly before joining. Every game on the shelf comes with someone who loves teaching it, and a rules mistake in a short game costs you ten minutes, not a night.
Is it free?
Membership is free and so are the weekly sessions, including every game in the library. Some special events have tickets through our Rubric page.
Do I need to sign up or book before coming?
No. Just walk in, there's no booking or RSVP. Sessions run from 2:30 until late in the same room every week, so there's no such thing as arriving late. The only thing we ask is that you sign up for a free RBGA membership after your first visit. It takes about a minute on our Rubric page.
When and where do you run sessions?

How do I actually make friends at RMIT?
Turn up to the same place twice. Strangers talk easily when there's a third thing to focus on, and a board game is a purpose-built third thing. You learn the rules together and the conversation runs itself. Behavioural research is blunt about the rest: people who pick an exact time and place actually go. So pick the session that fits your timetable and put it in your calendar. City runs Mondays and Wednesdays. Come twice and people will greet you by name.
Do I have to be an RMIT student to join?
No. Your first session is free and open to anyone, student or not. To keep coming you need a membership. RMIT students sign up free on our Rubric page. If you're RMIT alumni, RMIT staff or not from RMIT at all, you can join as an associate member, but our constitution requires an endorsement from a full member, meaning a current RMIT student. Come to a session, play a game or two, and someone at the table will vouch for you. Membership is free either way.
